This positionis responsible forthe performance of electrical tasks listed below at a journeyman level for newremodeland repair projects for the University.Invididuals must be able to interpret wiring schematicsblueprintsandcodes.Individuals to installserviceandmaintainelectrical systems for all types of structures equipmentaccessoriesand related components in a safeefficientand knowledgeable manner.Individuals to use and maintain all materials tools andequipment oftradein a safe and knowledgeable manner. Employee shift is 7:00am 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.
The Facilities Management Department is a service unit that reports to the Vice Chancellor of Business Finance and Administrative Services and provides many services to theUW-Stoutcampus including building and grounds maintenance facility modifications and improvements custodial services snow removal landscaping campus planning & engineering construction management purchasing fleet services key management campus inventory management campus heat/steam production and chilled water building openings and closings event setup and teardown moving services trash and recycling collection etc.

Minimum$46.35hourly per the UW System Trade Agreement.
This has been identified as a Crafts Worker position. Crafts Workers mayelectan increased vacation allocation with a corresponding reduction to the prevailing rate.Please see the options below and more information can be foundhere.
Adjusted 100 Hour Leave Rate: $47.85
Adjusted 140 Hour Leave Rate: $47.09
Adjusted 180 Hour Leave Rate: $46.35
A six month probationary period is required.
Minimum
Knowledge and experience of tools equipment (exp. motor starters frequency drives multimeteramprobe) materialsmethodsand practices of the electrical trade; safety requirements.
Knowledge of state and federal electrical codes and ability to recognize occupational hazards and necessary precautions in the electrical trade.
Ability to read and interpret complex circuit diagramsin order toinstall repair and maintain campus electrical systems.
Ability to design layout and develop material lists for repair or new installation work
Mustpossessbasic mathematicalskills;including addition subtraction division and multiplication (necessary to complete work orders and estimate projects).
Skills necessary to ensure proper materials and application techniques are used to meetmanufacturerswritten requirements.
Visual acuity and ability necessary to read and understand written instructions information construction documents (Le. blueprints and specifications) workordershazardous substance warnings and manufacturers technical information.
Good verbal and written communication skills and Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers supervisory and other University employeesin order tomaintain a smooth functioning work unit.
Skill in operation of aerial lift equipment suchas ascissor lift and extendable boom lift.
Ability to delegate and prioritize work.
Strong computer skills including knowledge and ability to use email Microsoft Word Excel and navigate software for timekeeping
Ability to navigate computer-basedbuilding maintenance systems.
Interpersonal skillsnecessaryto interact effectively with coworkerssupervisoryand other University employeesin order tomaintain a smooth functioning work unit.

Preferred
Experience in an education facility
Experience in commercial electrical work
Experience in industrial electrical work

Experience working with medium voltage systems.
10 or more years of experience as a licensed electrician
2 or more years of service truck experience

Valid Drivers license

Must have sufficient physical flexibility to kneel squat stoop crawl under cabinets and other low spacesin order toperform the tasks.
Must be able to tolerate working in confined spacesin order toperformthe electricalmaintenance and repair when necessary.
Employeemust be able to work in partially lit spaces dusty and/or dirty spaces on raised platforms/ladders andinextreme temperatures on occasion
Employeemust wear safety toe shoes during entire shift andisresponsibleto wearadditionalPPE asdeterminednecessary by employee/supervisorduring the course ofjob duties
