Job Summary

The Department of Urology at the University of Washington has (2) two full-time fellowship opportunities in Mens Health/Andrology (2027-2028). The fellow will be appointed as an Acting Instructorin our program with an anticipated start date of July 1 2027. Acting instructors holdannualappointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30) and may be reappointed to subsequent annual terms. Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June) meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

The monthly salary range for this position will be: $7641 - $8771 per month ($91692 - $105252 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice planmay provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

ESSENTIAL AND UNIQUE CHARACTERISTICS OF A FELLOWSHIP TRAINED ANDROLOGIST
Andrology is the study of functions and diseases peculiar to males especially in the reproductive organs which includes expertise in the medical and surgical management of male infertility erectile dysfunction Peyronies Disease and hypogonadism. The goal of advanced training in Andrology is to provide further knowledge and skills beyond the expertise achieved during a urology residency program. This additional expertise should include scholarship critical analysis of complex clinical problems and development of advanced technical skills. The fellow should develop good skills in the planning of multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. Further the fellow should achieve expertise in clinical scientific research methodologies.


OVERALL GOALS & OBJECTIVES
After completing a one-year minimum fellowship in Andrology the fellow should demonstrate the following unique characteristics:

  1. Advanced expertise in the multidisciplinary management of patients with male factor infertility erectile dysfunction Peyronies Disease and hypogonadism.
  2. Knowledge and the ability to apply the critical principles of:
    • Plastic surgery
    • Prosthetic surgery
    • Microsurgery
    • Urologic imaging techniques
    • Andrology laboratory testing
  3. Ability to perform complex genital surgery with a clear understanding of the benefits and thetechnical limitations of surgical procedures;
  4. Extensive knowledge of and technical experience in microscopic vascularreconstructive and sperm retrieval surgery;
  5. Knowledge of the biology of spermatogenesis;
  6. Comprehension of and facility with scientific methodology study design biostatistics clinical trials and data analysis;
  7. Ability to manage academic or tertiary referral clinical practice participate in continuing education.
  8. Skills for self-education and collaboration in translational research.


  1. Admission is contingent upon completion of an ACGME accredited urologic training program.
  2. The applicant must have a letter of support from their urology training program director recommending them for the fellowship and attesting to the candidates successful completion of the urology training program. Two additional letters are required.
  3. Applicants must be eligible for or possess a Washington State Medical License.
  4. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
