Job Summary

Preferred Primary Care Physicians is currently recruiting for a full- time Phlebotomist at a busy PPCP Office located in the Uniontown area. The successful candidate MUST have at least 6 months experience as a clinical Phlebotomist. The candidate must be comfortable working with all aspects of a Phlebotomy position including essentials such as working with computers and having the ability to multi-task in a fast paced working environment. General Purpose of the Phlebotomist:
The Phlebotomist Serves patients by preparing specimens for laboratory testing; performing screening procedures.

Essential Duties of a Phlebotomist:

* Verifies test requisitions by comparing information with nursing station log; bringing discrepancies to the attention of unit personnel.

* Verifies patient by reading patient identification.

* Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and fingersticks.

* Maintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique following department procedures; observing isolation procedures.

* Tracks collected specimens by initialing dating and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed.

* Performs bleeding-times tests by entering results to the computer; notifying pathologist of results falling outside normal ranges.

* Maintains quality results by following department procedures and testing schedule; recording results in the quality-control log; identifying and reporting needed changes.

* Maintains safe secure and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.

Education:

A high school diploma or GED is required. Graduate from an accredited school of medical assistant. Six (6) months of medical assistant experience in a medical practice setting preferred however open to new graduate applicants.
