POSITION DESCRIPTION
Huron Valley Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and positive speech and language practitioner. Must be in alignment with best practices for providing services. This professional will need to be a highly collaborative employee working with a broad range of service providers and staff and be an effective communicator in using both verbal and written skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Michigan Speech-Language Pathology License and American Speech Language HearingAssociation CCC
Highly-developed interpersonal communication group facilitation organization planning scheduling technology and time management skills
Experience and knowledge of children and youth from early intervention through adult transitionage
Knowledge of the workings of a school environment including an understanding of the state andfederal rules and regulations governing special education Michigan Academic Standards districtcurriculum and specially designed instruction
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To effectively provide services to students on an Individualized Family Service Plan within their natural home environment
To work a balanced work-year calendar
To provide services to speech and language eligible students
To write IEPs and goals and objectives for existing IEPs
To provide education to staff families and colleagues about best practices within speech and language
To effectively evaluate students in determining eligibility of services
To progress monitor student growth to ensure only eligible students are on an IEP
To provide intentional Tier II interventions as a means to intervene early and coach across the environment
To collaborate with speech and language cohort to ensure consistency in practice and use of best practices
To be a member of the Building Education Support Team (BEST) as a means to support the MTSS structure and proactive interventions
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Masters Degree or higher.
LANGUAGE MATHEMATICAL AND REASONING SKILLS: Ability to speak and writeeffectively. Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to carry out instructionsfurnished in written or oral format and deal with problems involving several concrete variables instandardized situations.
