Description
The Director of Student Accounts provides strategic leadership and oversight for all student account receivable functions across Georgia Military College including the Preparatory School. This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy compliance and efficiency in billing refunds collections and financial reporting. The Director develops policies manages the Student Accounts team oversees regulatory compliance and implements analytical tools that support institutional planning and decision-making.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction and oversight for all student receivable functions including billing payments scholarships refunds and collections for both the College and Preparatory School.
Develop implement and maintain departmental policies procedures and internal controls to ensure accuracy consistency and regulatory compliance.
Lead supervise mentor and evaluate Student Accounts staff; ensure continuity of operations through cross-training and staff development.
Serve as the institutional lead for compliance with Title IV State and Federal regulations tied to student accounts including oversight of annual 1098-T reporting.
Direct the development and maintenance of student account dashboards metrics and reporting tools to communicate financial trends to leadership.
Oversee the creation and use of forecasting models to project student receivable activity and support financial planning.
Provide guidance and final decision-making for escalated student account issues ensuring timely accurate and student-centered resolutions.
Collaborate closely with Business Office Financial Aid Registrar IT and campus locations to maintain efficient workflows and strong internal controls.
Evaluate systems processes and technologies to improve automation data integrity and reporting capability.
Represent Student Accounts in institutional meetings committees and external audits as needed.

Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field required; CPA or Masters degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in student accounts accounts receivable billing or financial operations; higher-education experience preferred.
- Supervisory or team leadership experience required.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage daily operations and multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with Ellucian/Colleague and Microsoft Office; familiarity with SQL Tableau or Power BI preferred.
- Understanding of Title IV refunds AR regulations and cash-handling controls preferred.
- Ability to support policy procedure and internal-control development.
- Sound judgment and effective conflict-resolution skills.
Working Conditions
- Standard office environment with occasional travel evenings or weekends as required.
- Physical requirements include extended computer use prolonged sitting and occasional light lifting.
