BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the United Nations frontline agency fighting hunger. WFP reaches more than 100 million people every day - delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with smallholder farmers communities and governments to improve nutrition and build resilience. The WFP Innovation Accelerator was named by Fast Company as Most Innovative Non-Profit Organization 2021 for its work in identifying nurturing and scaling disruptive start-ups and innovations to end global hunger. Based in Munich Germany the Innovation Accelerator provides WFP employees entrepreneurs and start-ups with funding hands-on support and access to WFPs global operations. Through the Innovation Accelerator WFP is leveraging unprecedented advances in digital innovation - such as mobile technology artificial intelligence and blockchain - and new business models to transform the way it serves vulnerable communities across the 2023 Accelerator supported innovations that positively impacted the lives of 60.7 million

a)Deliver standard IT support services:
the first point of contact for internal queries to facilitate the provision of efficient and effective resolution of daily issues related to hardware software and audio-visual equipment and technical set-up for events.
IT Onboarding to software and hardware for incoming Innovation Accelerator team members.
out system and equipment maintenance tasks such as backup system data and system protection to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use.
basic monitoring and troubleshooting of server systems to ensure a consistent delivery of IT services to staff.
to basic queries about technology and systems to support the correct application of technology.
and inspect all incoming assets and report discrepancies in IT materials inventory to senior colleagues to ensure materials are effectively tracked.
basic beta testing and support the rollout of new versions of centrally supported and locally sourced software to ensure the software is operational for WFP staff.
direction from senior colleagues collate information to be included in standard material such as training documentation and web content to contribute to the availability of information about services and products.
b)Support office operations through the handling of administrative and facilities support tasks for the operations of the physical and virtual office:
the first point of contact for internal queries to facilitate the provision of efficient and effective resolution of daily issues related to the physical building contents and security components.
inputs to routine methods and practices in their own area of work to support the continuous improvement of services provided.
information is up to date and accurate within inventories databases websites and archives to support senior officers in managing these systems.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
-Provided support and guidance in the development and implementation of a system for trouble ticketing for IT and facility needs.
-Technical tool license audit performed.
-Technical expertise provided for the internet tender for the new office.
-Technical equipment needs for the office are planned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Experience: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable. At least 3 years of progressively responsible international experience in Information Technology (IT) services.
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience in IT with global organization required.
Demonstrates working understanding of existing hardware software servers and network management to resolve users routine problems using WFPs established processes and tools.
Experience with facilities maintenance desired but not required.
Has experience resolving level 1 (basic) IT issues. Has a basic understanding of project management principles to provide basic estimates on timing resource utilization and costs to facilitate the project planning process.
Strong customer service orientation required. Understands and follows the established standards and protocols for service excellence within its own domain to maintain quality of delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction.
Demonstrates curiosity and proposes new ways of doing things when relevant.
Listens attentively to others to capture learn build and share new perspectives.
Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy.
Strong time management skills with an ability to plan anticipate requirements problems and obstacles and an ability to juggle competing priorities successfully and work to tight deadlines.
Self-motivated and able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
Fully committed and motivated to achieve the aims of the UN World Food Programme.
Shows humility and a willingness to learn and share knowledge frequently seeking and acting on feedback and taking up opportunities to develop.

Languages: High proficiency in oral and written English. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic Chinese French Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFPs working languages) is a plus.
