Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

**A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies**

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason thisclassification exists is to provide skilled work in the repair servicing andmounting/demounting of heavy equipment wheels and tires. Employees in this class work withconsiderable independence in working the maintenance shop or responding to tireservice calls in the field in order to examine repair and/or replacetires. The work responsibilities of thejob include repairing servicing mounting and demounting tires for heavyequipment and heavy or medium truck tires both in the shop and on roadservice; repairing servicing mounting and demounting tires for light trucksautomobiles motorcycles scooters and other small vehicle tires; and servicinglight trucks and automobiles. Forsafety purposes it is preferred that servicers work in tandem. Work is performed under the supervision of theTire Shop Master Auto Mechanic or Auto Mechanic.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have six (6) monthsexperience removing disassembling repairing and reinstalling heavyequipment/truck tires such as garbage trucks limb loaders street sweepersdump trucks low boy trailers and/or fire trucks.

NOTE: Qualifyingeducation training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge skillsand abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Employment is conditioned uponapplicants possessing and maintaining an Alabama Drivers License and providinga Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) from the Department of Public Safety as proof ofan insurable driving record as needed to drive city vehicles.
