Job Summary

Partner Community Capital is seeking a Senior Underwriter to play a pivotal role in evaluating structuring and managing our small business lending portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to help make a meaningful difference for entrepreneurs in underserved markets. The Senior Underwriter reports to the EVP Chief Credit Officer.

The Senior Underwriter is a key member of PCAPs lending team responsible for evaluating and underwriting loan requests managing the loan pipeline and ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial services to small business clients. This role works closely with lenders analysts referral partners and community stakeholders to advance PCAPs mission while maintaining strong portfolio performance and compliance standards.

You will bring deep credit expertise sound judgment and strong relationship management skills to help PCAP scale responsibly and deliver flexible mission-centered capital to those who need it most.

Education Experience and Technical Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in finance business or related field
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in commercial lending underwriting or a related field
  • 2 to 3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Experience with CDFIs SBA lending or mission-based finance strongly preferred
  • Expertise in commercial credit analysis financial modeling and risk assessment
  • Proficiency with loan origination and portfolio management systems
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency in Word Outlook and analytical tools
  • Salesforce experience and data integration knowledge preferred
  • Familiarity with CDFI Fund reporting and SBA lending processes a plus

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with lenders borrowers referral sources lending partners and technical assistance providers.
  • Review credit memos for financing over $100000 to ensure compliance with lending policies grant requirements and regulations.
  • Analyze financial statements tax returns and documentation to evaluate creditworthiness and business viability.
  • Exercise delegated loan approval authority and provide data-supported recommendations to the Chief Credit Officer and Investment Committee.
  • Supervise coach and provide technical guidance to Credit Analysts and team members.
  • Improve operational efficiency through process innovation technology adoption and cross-training.
  • Collaborate with lenders to structure loans that meet client needs while managing risk.
  • Monitor portfolio performance analyze trends and ensure adherence to quality metrics.
  • Provide subject-matter expertise mentoring and support for staff development.
  • Stay current on industry-related trends market conditions regulatory updates and credit risk best practices.
  • Engage with clients on credit evaluation loan structuring and portfolio management questions.
  • Assist with cross-sales opportunities servicing information credit documentation and client calls as needed.
  • Represent PCAP with referral partners technical assistance providers government agencies and community stakeholders.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in underwriting procedures documentation standards and risk assessment frameworks.

Compensation Benefits and Location:

This position offers a competitive salary $83000 to $110000 commensurate with experience. This is a full-time hybrid position; candidates must be within a commutable distance to Winston-Salem Durham or Asheville North Carolina.
