Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): Students work together with a faculty member on scholarly or artistic projects.
Project Title: How Creatine Influences Health Markers Across the Menopausal Spectrum
Faculty Mentor:Jenny Miller
Project Description: Are you interested in conducting a human subject research project which aims to explore the effects of Creatine Monohydrate on performance body composition cognitive function cortisol levels estrogen levels menopause symptoms and sleep of females in perimenopause and postmenopause based on activity level. If so this this project will involves the completion of 12 subjects in phase two dissemination of data including the analysis of the data collected. It is required to have advanced experience with R specifically ANOVA t-tests Shapiro-Wilk test an Eta squared test and a Wilcoxon test. Additionally experience running hormonal assays is required. You will be tasked with completing assays of cortisol and estrogen assays in a biology laboratory and analyzing the data. The dissemination goal will be to contribute to a manuscript that will be peer-reviewed and published in a health sciences or physiology journal.

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) A student interested in applying for the CURI academic year program must be enrolled as an on-campus St. Olaf student. There is no GPA requirement that must be met in order to apply for the program but a students academic record will be considered during the selection process. Skills are dependent on individual projects.
