Job Summary
- Performs specific patient care activities and non-professional services under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse necessary to meet personal physical and emotional needs of the neonate pediatric adolescent adult or geriatric patient and family consistent with the philosophy goals policies and procedures of the Nursing Department and Medical Center Administration. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate date to the age of patient served on the nursing unit or by patient care department. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the delivery of patient care by performing in a prompt and appropriate manner specific patient care tasks as directed by the nurse in charge.
- Assists with admission transfers discharges and transports patients as requested.
- Obtains and records T.P.R. BP and pulse oximetry accurately and reports abnormalities to primary nurse promptly.
- Answers call lights for patients in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Performs appropriate tasks in all code situations (CPR obtaining equipment etc. under the direction of the Code Stat Team).
- Collects prepares labels and delivers specimens to lab in a timely manner per procedure as needed.
- Assists the procedure team during the preoperative intraoperative and post operative phase of the procedural patient as directed by the leadership team. Facilitates procedure room turnover by performing environmental service tasks for cleaning of room.
- Assists the procedure room team in obtaining and setting up additional equipment needed for the procedure e.g.: power consoles video towers ultrasounds.
- Checks code cart defibrillator and IABP daily for proper function in accordance with medical center policies and procedures when requested.
- Cleans restocks and maintains patient care supplies and equipment. Assists supply coordinators in receiving stocking and expiration checking of equipment.
- Maintains and prepares requisitions for unit specific supplies and equipment.
- Maintains and Models Nuvance Health Values.
- Demonstrates regular reliable and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Education: Requires high school diploma or equivalent; general knowledge of high school subject matter possibly including sciences simple medical procedures or terminology or office equipment.
- License: BLS healthcare provider certification required.
- Other:
- Little to no experience required. Could rely on education and knowledge required for employment.
- Three to six months required for learning period.
- Must successfully complete Nursing Orientation.
Working Conditions
- Some manual skills / motor coord & finger dexterity
- Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
- Significant exposure to dirt odor noise human waste etc.
- Significant occupational risk
