Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Emergency Room (Peds ER) provides skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role involves patient assessments medication administration treatment planning and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The position requires a strong understanding of pediatric emergency care and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Location:Washington District of Columbia United States
Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled nursing care to pediatric patients in the ER.
- Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes in condition.
- Document patient care accurately and completely in the electronic health record.
- Assist with procedures and treatments as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Respond to emergency situations and provide immediate care.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in the state of working.
- BLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent Pediatric ER experience or 3 years of combined adult and Pediatric experience.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center.
- Cerner charting experience.
Special Considerations:
- Every Other Weekend (EOW) required.
- Must work holidays.
- Missed shifts are required to be made up.
- Photo required upon contract signature if offered and accepted.
Scheduling:
- 36 guaranteed hours per week open to 48 hours with no overtime until after 48 hours.
- Day/Night rotating shifts.
