RN Med/Surg Telemetry
Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to adult and elderly patients on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit. The RN performs comprehensive assessments monitors cardiac rhythms administers medications manages IV therapies and coordinates care using the nursing process. The role requires strong clinical judgment the ability to recognize and respond to changing patient conditions and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members. The RN maintains accurate documentation supports patient and family education and ensures adherence to safety and infection-control standards.
Key Responsibilities -
Provide direct nursing care and evaluate patient outcomes modifying interventions as needed.

Perform full head-to-toe assessments and reassessments per policy.

Monitor cardiac telemetry recognize rhythm changes and notify providers promptly.
-
Administer medications safely including cardiac medications titratable IV drips sedation and transfusion therapies.

Manage central lines IV therapy IVADD TPN/PPN and venous access care.
-
Provide care for medical conditions including cardiac pulmonary renal GI and other systemic illnesses.
-
Support pre- and post-procedure care including cardiac catheterization recovery.
-
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation of assessments interventions and patient responses.
-
Identify psychosocial cultural and spiritual needs; advocate for patients and families.
-
Develop and revise individualized care plans; incorporate patient and family teaching.
-
Assist physicians during unit-based procedures and utilize specialized monitoring equipment.
-
Supervise and support other healthcare personnel; function as a resource and preceptor when needed.
-
Participate in performance-improvement activities and maintain required competencies.
-
Ensure proper functioning cleaning and stocking of unit equipment and supplies.
-
Adapt to fluctuating workloads and function effectively in fast-paced or high-stress situations.
-
Assist with patient transport admissions discharges and transfers.
-
Perform other duties within scope as assigned.
Qualifications -
Current RN license.

Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA) certifications.
-
Current NIHSS and EKG competency.
-
Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry experience; 5 years preferred.
-
Associate degree required; Bachelors degree preferred.
