Specialized Faculty Teaching Position Clinical Microbiology

Department of Biological Sciences

St. Edwards University a nationally ranked independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) invites applications for a full-time 9-month specialized faculty (non-tenure-track) position as an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences beginning August 2026.

St. Edwards is characterized by its commitment to the Holy Cross educational mission of educating the hearts and minds of a diverse student body deeply committed to social justice.

The successful candidate will have a background in microbiology and a passion for teaching undergraduate courses to Nursing majors. Candidates with the ability to teach Immunology are especially encouraged to apply. Faculty must have the ability to work effectively with others in a collegial environment.

For consideration candidates must possess a PhD in Microbiology or a related field.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Responsibilities Include: Candidates should have an interest in and the ability or potential to teach undergraduate courses as well as support a diverse student body.

  • Teach a typical load equivalent to five 3-credit courses per semester
  • Prepare and teach lecture and laboratory courses in microbiology for Nursing majors (BIOL 2318/2118 Clinical Microbiology)
  • Teach additional courses such as courses in the General Biology sequence Immunology or other courses consistent with the applicants expertise
  • Supervise undergraduate teaching assistants
  • Advise undergraduate students
  • Other duties as assigned
