Job Summary
We are seeking a Shop Mechanic(Diesel Engine) for our Liberty TX location.
Blessey Marine Services Inc. owns and operates one of the youngest multi-faceted inland tank barge and vessel fleets in the United States.
JOB TITLE: Maintenance Mechanic Diesel Engine

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Performsskilled work in the repair and maintenance of boat and barge diesel engine equipment. Additionally will be trained for maintenanceon pumps valves stripping systems and other equipment as necessary:
SUPERVISION:
Reports to: V. P. of Maintenance New Construction and WEB Engines
Supervises: This position has nosupervisory responsibilities
ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performscheduled and unscheduled maintenance in accordance with standard practices of WEBEngines.
- Troubleshootinspect repair and perform routine maintenance on various types of dieselengines.
- Reviewmaintenance items with VP Shop Supervisor and Facilities Manager and complete openitems as necessary.
- Providedetailed information for tasks/work performed to ensure quality input into companyrecords.
- Communicateany problems or remaining open items back to Supervisor(s) as necessary.
- Assistwith analyses of systems to determine the most cost-effective means ofmaintenance repair or replacement.
- Mustbe available for on-call assignments as required and needed on a regular basis.
- Drivea company vehicle to various locations.
- Otherduties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Threeto five years of diesel mechanic experience.
- Mustbe able to read write and clearly speak the English language.
- HighSchool diploma or GED required.
- Threeto five years strong related experience in pumps.
- Experienceworking in maintenance and/or around shipyard repair activities.
- Knowledgeof basic mechanics (engines heaters etc.)
- Knowledgeof a variety of computer software applications including but not limited toMicrosoft Excel and Microsoft Word software.
- Mustpossess or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Effectivetrouble shooting and problem-solving skills
- Effectiveverbal and written communication skills are critical as are leadership skills.
- Mustmaintain a clear driving record and be insurable through the companys automobileinsurance carrier.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Abilityto read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professionaljournals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports businesscorrespondence and procedure to effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers clients customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions topractical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Abilityto define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travelsixty to eighty days per year by automobile airplane and by boat.
Thisposition requires driving a vehicle as necessary for errands and business-relatedmeetings. Employee and/or applicant must successfully complete a Motor VehicleHistory check and possess and maintain a current valid drivers license intheir state of residence.
