Job Description
As part of Gileads IT Engineering function the IT Engineering Manager MDM & Manufacturing Systems will serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for mobile device operations across manufacturing and warehousing environments. The role focuses on the design configuration deployment and lifecycle management of ruggedized mobile devices using the SOTI MobiControl platform while also offering the opportunity to expand into other manufacturing-based applications.
You will be responsible for managing the technical delivery of mobile device solutions supporting incident response (including outside standard hours) and contributing to broader IT Engineering initiatives. This is a technical role with a strong emphasis on hands-on engineering and cross-functional collaborationnot people management.
Lead engineering efforts for mobile device provisioning configuration and deployment using SOTI MobiControl.
Build and maintain ruggedized handheld devices (e.g. Zebra scanners) for GMP-compliant manufacturing and warehousing operations.
Partner with business and IT teams to align device configurations with operational workflows and compliance requirements.
Develop engineering plans for mobile device lifecycle management including patching updates and remote support.
Act as escalation point for mobile device and related system incidents including availability for after-hours support when required.
Create and maintain technical documentation for device configurations policies and procedures.
Support testing validation and QA activities to ensure compliance with Gileads IT and regulatory standards.
Participate in post-implementation reviews and continuous improvement efforts.
Train on and expand support to other manufacturing-related applications contributing to broader IT Engineering initiatives.
Ensure all work complies with Gileads IT practices policies and regulatory requirements.
Extensive experience and BS/BA in Computer Science or related discipline.
Experience in mobile device management within a regulated manufacturing or logistics environment.
Hands-on expertise with SOTI MobiControl or similar MDM platforms.
Proven experience configuring and deploying ruggedized mobile devices (Zebra Honeywell etc.).
Familiarity with GMP compliance and validation processes.
Experience supporting business systems and integrations in life sciences is a plus.
Strong understanding of mobile device architecture wireless networking and device security.
Knowledge of Android Enterprise device lockdown policies and remote support tools.
Experience with Agile methodologies and SDLC/SLC processes.
Ability to create and maintain technical documentation aligned with compliance standards.
Understanding of IT security risk management and cloud-based device management.
Excellent problem-solving communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to support multiple projects and changing priorities.
Willingness to support critical incidents outside standard working hours.
Openness to cross-training and expanding technical scope to support additional manufacturing systems and applications.
