The Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) is a trauma informed care agency focused on implementing our core values and providing support to people with developmental disabilities. We oversee a statewide system of supportive services that focus on ensuring the health and safety supporting access to community participation and increasing opportunities for meaningful employment. The Gallipolis Developmental Center is located along the Ohio River within the historic city of Gallipolis. We provide off-campus work/habilitative activities provided during the addition we also have an Activity Center on-ground for habilitation recreation work-readiness and therapeutic training for individuals choosing those activities. We also provide a full array of health services as well.
Hourly wage will be paid at step 1 unless otherwise specified by collective bargaining agreement or rules outlined in the ORC/OAC.Requires travel throughout State of Ohio & may require overnight be willing & able to secure a Driver License OR supply your own transportation.
The final candidate selected for the position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. RuleBackground Investigations for Employment outlines disqualifying offenses that will preclude an applicant from being employed by the Department of Developmental Disabilities.
THE FINAL APPLICANT SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TO URINALYSIS PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT TO TEST FOR ILLEGAL DRUG USE. AN APPLICANT WITH A POSITIVE TEST RESULT WILL NOT BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT.

Minimum Qualifications
24 months experience in development & implementation of treatment/habilitation plans for individuals who are mentally ill or developmentally disabled & working as part of inter-disciplinary team to assess individuals needs & abilities;
12 months experience as lead worker providing work direction & training for other employees;
12 months of training or 12 months experience in state &/or federal regulations & standards governing care custody & programming of consumers/residents in mental health or developmental centers;
6 months experience in writing or assisting in development of policies procedures goals & objectives of operational unit or program of agency or firm;
1 course in manpower planning or 3 months experience scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage or projecting adequate staff levels;
3 months of training in budgeting or 3 months experience preparing or assisting in preparation of budget for operational unit or program of agency or firm.
-Or
Completion of undergraduate core program in mental health & developmental disabilities technology social work or comparable field (e.g. child & family community services) special education psychology or rehabilitation;
12 months experience as lead worker providing work direction & training for other employees;
12 months of training or 12 months experience in state &/or federal regulations & standards governing care custody & programming of consumers/residents in mental health or developmental centers;
6 months experience in writing or assisting in development of policies procedures goals & objectives of operational unit or program of agency or firm;
1 course in manpower planning or 3 months experience scheduling staff to ensure adequate coverage or projecting adequate staff levels;
3 months of training in budgeting or 3 months experience preparing or assisting in preparation of budget for operational unit or program of agency or firm.
