Job Summary
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for designing implementing and supporting core server cloud and network security infrastructure across a diverse set of environments. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Windows Server administration strong hands-on experience managing the Microsoft Azure platform and operational proficiency with Fortinet firewalls and FortiManager.
This individual will work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure secure stable and scalable systems that support business operations. This is a senior-level customer-facing role requiring advanced troubleshooting skills excellent communication and the ability to operate independently.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Windows Server & Infrastructure
Administer configure and maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments.
Manage Active Directory DNS DHCP Group Policy and server-side components.
Perform server builds upgrades patching and ongoing performance optimization.
Troubleshoot server-related incidents and root-cause complex system issues.
Microsoft Azure
Deploy manage and support Azure services including:
Azure VMs networking storage accounts
Azure AD/Entra ID Conditional Access
Azure Backup & Site Recovery (ASR)
Azure Monitor Defender for Cloud
Implement best practices for cloud governance resource organization and cost management.
Assist with cloud migrations hybrid identity and modernization initiatives.
Fortinet Firewalls & Security
Configure operate and troubleshoot Fortinet firewalls (FortiGate) in production environments.
Manage centralized policies and updates through FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer.
Support SD-WAN configurations VPN tunnels IPS/AV profiles and Zero Trust policies.
Collaborate with security teams to enhance overall network security posture.
General Responsibilities
Act as a senior escalation resource for critical issues and high-priority incidents.
Lead small-to-medium implementation projects and customer onboarding efforts.
Document systems network diagrams procedures and best practices.
Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
Provide mentorship to junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
7 years of experience in systems engineering cloud engineering or similar roles.
Strong expertise in Windows Server administration and Active Directory.
3 years of hands-on Azure management in a production environment.
Production experience with Fortinet firewalls and FortiManager.
Solid understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP VLANs routing VPN DNS).
Ability to handle project ownership documentation and customer communication.
Strong troubleshooting skills and proven ability to resolve complex issues.
Preferred Certifications
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
Fortinet Certified Professional (FCP) or Fortinet Certified Solution Specialist (FCSS)
Additional Microsoft CompTIA or networking/security certifications are a plus.
