Summary/Objective of Position:

An electrician specializes in the design installation repair and maintenance of electrical systems. They also inspect electrical components and ensure building systems comply with safety regulations.

The job description for an electrician:

• Our company is seeking an electrician who can perform installation repair and maintenance work for commercial and residential buildings. Their duties would include leveraging testing devices to troubleshoot electrical issues inspecting various electrical components and adhering to local safety codes.
• We prefer candidates with experience in energy efficiency as our company is looking to cut operational costs and reduce our overall carbon footprint.
• Other requirements for this role include:
  • An electrician may work with various electrical applications install components test conductivity and ensure the safe operation of a buildings systems.
  • Electricians may also work with utility companies to maintain power lines by clearing tree branches and debris.
  • Several more common trade skills and tasks electricians perform on the job include:
    • Diagnosing electrical issues by reading diagrams and blueprints
    • Installing and repairing wiring and conductive elements and electrical components in buildings and other structures
    • Testing and inspecting electrical work like wiring and lighting to ensure safe installation and compliance with regulatory codes
    • Planning and designing layouts of fixtures wiring pathways and other electrical elements inside commercial and residential buildings
    • Identifying and mitigating safety hazards code violations and other electrical issues depending on where they work an electrician is expected to be competent in certain types of projects and tasks. For instance in industrial settings like factories and manufacturing areas to install and maintain power systems for equipment and residential areas electrical work consists of installations of wiring fixtures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

Minimum:

• A high school diploma.
• Completion of an electrician apprenticeship
• At least two years of work experience.
• Relevant industry certification
• A valid drivers license

Preferred:

• Education: Electricians typically enter the career with their high school diplomas or through an accredited electrical trade school. While its not a requirement a college degree can give you a competitive advantage during your job search.

Knowledge:

• Electricians may also work with utility companies to maintain power lines by clearing tree branches and debris.
• Several more common trade skills and tasks electricians perform on the job include:
  • Work on electrical systems in commercial buildings such as offices and retail spaces.
    • Required Skills and Qualifications:
      • Technical Skills: Knowledge of electrical systems wiring and components.
      • Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and repair electrical problems.
      • Safety Awareness: Understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
      • Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret and work from electrical blueprints.
      • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve electrical issues.
      • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
      • Licensing and Certification: Depending on the location and type of work electricians may need to be licensed or certified.

Skills:

Physical Requirements Work Environment & Travel:

• Physical demand of the job includes standing for extended periods climbing ladders/scaffolds maybe required to assist and handle heavy loads with proper equipment.
• The work environment entails exposure to weather hot/cold climates dusty areas may be required to participate in cleaning up to keep work areas clean and safe.

Other Requirement(s):

• Oral fluency in Navajo is desirable but not mandatory
