THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KNOXVILLE TN
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Director of Operations directs the daily administrative and clinical functions of the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology and the UT Hearing and Speech Center. This position ensures sound operational foundations for uninterrupted performance and supports the educational mission of the college by providing a seamless environment for academic and clinical instruction.
Responsibilities- Directs all administrative operations activities for the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology.
- Prepare probable budgets and monthly expenditure reports for the department Chair and Program Directors.
- Reviews and approves accounts payable including payroll invoices travel expenditure reports and procurement card charges.
- Prepares and submits invoices for contract receivables and reconciles payments to the appropriate accounts.
- Utilizes data and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to track clinical performance/productivity and identify areas for improvement.
- Leads the planning coordination and execution of daily clinical operations ensuring efficiency cost-effectiveness and adherence to best practices.
- Works closely with academic leadership faculty and external partners to align clinical operations with the colleges long-term strategic goals.
- Develops implements and participates in quality assurance programs/audits to continually improve patient care and clinical performance.
- Develops monitors and controls budgets involving private state and federal funds.
- Provides direct supervision development and evaluation of medical billing/admin support personnel to ensure adequate staffing.
- Implements technology solutions to streamline clinical workflows and enhance operational efficiency.
- Negotiates insurance and third-party insurance contracts rates and in-network status and assists in credentialing.
- Responds promptly to requests from the department Chair faculty staff members university personnel and various external entities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEDUCATION:Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Education Business Administration or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE:Five (5) years of progressive experience in healthcare finance higher education or a related area; ORMasters Degree and three (3) years of progressive experience in healthcare finance higher education or a related area.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ACTIVITIES:
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of clinical workflows and process improvement techniques.
- Advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize between multiple projects and changing priorities.
- Experience with grants management/submission.
WORK SCHEDULE:This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and require occasional overnight travel.
