Role Overview:
The Director Regional Biopharma and GBS Divisional Controller partners with senior leaders across Biopharma Finance Global Business Services and Commercial operations to uphold the integrity of financial reporting. This role is accountable for compliance with Corporate and Pfizer Accounting Policies US and local GAAP and statutory requirements particularly for shared service functions and the Biopharmaceuticals business.
Serving as a strategic resource for divisional and regional leadership the Controller manages complex accounting issues drives process improvements and fosters partnership across Controllers Biopharma Finance Global Business Services and other stakeholders in the region. The Controllers shares best practices globally enhance consistency and strengthen accounting guidance.
The role reports directly to the Senior Director Global Biopharma and Global Business Services (GBS) Controller and is based within the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Engagement: Develop strong relationships with Biopharma Finance GBS Controllers (Divisional Core Operations Technical Accounting Global Accounting) Corporate Audit and KPMG. Serve as a point of contact on accounting issues for internal and external stakeholders.
- Financial Reporting & Controls: Oversee accurate and compliant financial reporting for regional Biopharma and GBS operations. Ensure adherence to Corporate and Pfizer Accounting Policies US and local GAAP and statutory requirements. Maintain robust internal controls and support SOX compliance. Support audit remediation and revenue recognition guidance as needed for the region.
- Technical Accounting & Guidance: Advise on complex transactions new standards and technical accounting issues. Prepare or review technical memos for audits and support process improvements.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to streamline reporting automate processes and standardize practices across the region.
- Leadership & Partnership: Provide direction and support to divisional finance teams. Foster collaboration across Controllers Biopharma Finance GBS and other stakeholders. Share best practices and contribute to regional initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree required; CPA required; MBA preferred.
- Experience: 10 years in accounting including Big 4 experience; deep knowledge of US GAAP and experience in complex global organizations. Experience working across multiple levels functions and regions; proven ability to influence outcomes in a matrixed environment. Experience in corporate accounting is also considered.
- Skills: Strong analytical communication and leadership abilities; proven record in controls management process improvement and cross-functional collaboration; ERP system proficiency. Demonstrated proficiency in US GAAP local GAAP Statutory Reporting FASB and IFRS; advanced Excel skills; experience with Hyperion SAP Oracle or similar systems is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Other: Project management innovative thinking influential presence. Shared service experience and understanding of Pfizers processes is preferred.
