This is a full-time permanent position starting January 2026 (or earlier for an outstanding candidate). About the Role
As Head of Science your responsibilities will include:
Leading and managing the Science Department ensuring high-quality teaching and learning
Driving continuous improvement curriculum development and assessment strategies
Supporting and coaching staff across Biology Chemistry and Physics
Overseeing the delivery of engaging practical and rigorous science lessons
Monitoring progress analysing data and implementing intervention strategies
Managing departmental resources budgets and technician workflows
Ensuring a safe compliant and well-maintained science environment
Playing a key role in whole-school strategy leadership meetings and staff development
Teaching your specialist science subject up to KS4 or KS5 (depending on expertise)
This role requires a confident leader with strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire both students and staff.
Experience and Qualifications
Degree in a science discipline
PGCE with QTS
Proven track record of excellent classroom teaching
Experience leading a team or a strong readiness to step into leadership
Deep understanding of curriculum design and assessment in Science
Excellent communication organisational and interpersonal skills
Commitment to raising standards supporting staff and driving achievement
Salary
Paid to scale TLR according to experience and school policy.
