Technical Lead - HW System & process

Primary Purpose of the Role:

TheEngineeringCoach & Improvement rolesupportsThales UK Domains teams and individuals to help them become more autonomous and constantly improve in their Lean and Agile approach in order to deliver a quality product to end users. They focus / contribute to the definition and dissemination of best practices and the implementation of operational models in order to promote the empowerment of teams whilemaximizingthe efficiency of projects.

  • Chorus Process Owners and Local Process Correspondents

  • Heads of Engineering Operations (UK & Domains)

  • Heads of Disciplines (UK & Domain)

  • Chorus Quality Buddies

  • Critical Project Team Members

  • Talent Learning and Culture (HR)

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

As an Engineering Coach & Improvement engineering within Thales UK you will:

  • Refine / Develop effective process tailoring to support Thales UK Domains

  • Deliver against the Engineering Process Roadmap

  • Identify improvement areas and drive the implementation of change

  • Provide support (guidance and training) to Thales UK Domains on the engineering process including:

    • Tailoring of the engineering / DDQS Chorus process

    • Process guidance and query resolution

    • Support to Co-Assessments

    • Development of training material

    • Support to training delivery

  • Drive teams process by facilitating events/ceremonies and Agile workshops to become self-organized teams

  • Set up environment where trust and transparency are key pillars

  • Good understanding of the development lifecycle and lifecycle products.

  • Provide technical advice to all technical matters and management issues related to the Systems Engineering Group.

  • Provide assistance and guidance to the Project Systems Engineers for their responsibilities and design decisions

  • Develops and trains Systems Engineering resources supporting availability of adequate and qualified staff to perform and/or lead the design/requirements developments for the project/products including acceptance requirements.

  • Keep abreast of technical development both within and outside of the company.

  • Identify training development and performance needs

  • This role is often the technical focal point for the System Engineering process and must be able to resolve all issues problems questions and conflicts in the entire system. This requires frequent handling of new and unusual issues therefore a proven record of working in a Systems Engineering Management function is required.

Key performance Indicators against Responsibilities and Tasks:

As an Engineering Coach & Improvement engineering within Thales UK the applicable KPIs are:

  • Process Validity evidence of regular review

  • Engineering Maturity Assessment improved maturity demonstrated through Co-Assessments

  • Response (lateness) to process queries

  • Feedback on Process Training

  • EEI / DOTD in terms of process efficiency

Expected Competence Level:

Skills (underpinning Knowledge)

  • A detailed and varied understanding of engineering process across multiple project types and sectors

  • Able to use a range of IT tools.

  • Has a sound ability to define the use of System Engineering tools.

  • Has detail knowledge of configuration control processes.

  • Can manage a complex project through a defined design process and is able to tailor Chorus 2.0 to project needs.

  • Can define and use metrics as part of Quality assurance & control to change and re-model a System Engineering process.

  • Working knowledge of project plans.

  • Has knowledge of Engineering Safety Management

Experience:

  • Have significant experience working within Agile and remote teams

  • You are a trainer the one who knows how to deliver proper training session on principles practices or tools

  • You are a consultant the one who knows how to provide a turnkey solution to a problem

  • You know the following tools and methods: XP Scrum Kanban Software Craftsmanship change management management 3.0 or even coaching and systemic analysis

  • You have in-depth knowledge in Agile practices Lean methodologies project management and associated tools

  • You are able to animate meetings workshops and training sessions in English

  • You have the ability to share with people from different jobs and backgrounds

  • You have knowledge in digital transformation

  • You are able to move forward in changing environments

  • The post holder should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in the spoken and written word. A good outward appearance self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure are vital.

  • You graduated with a Master of Engineering Computer Science or related field in University.
