Job Duties:

The Doctor in Physical Therapy (DPT) program at UW-Stevens Point received initial CAPTE accreditation in May of 2025. DPT is part of the School of Health Sciences and Wellness (SHSW) which has over 1300 students and offers 8 undergraduate majors 8 graduate degree programs and several certificate programs. Required Qualifications:

  • Physical therapist with an active unencumbered license in Wisconsin or license eligible in the state of Wisconsin (must be licensed in WI within 6 months of hire). Foreign trained applicants must submit a completed and verified Coursework Evaluation Tool ( with verification of eligibility to sit for the NPTE with their application.
  • Earned Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from a CAPTE accredited program with a minimum of 5 years of full-time equivalent experience in clinical practice). Foreign trained applicants are eligible; in addition to transcripts applicants must submit a completed and verified Coursework Evaluation Tool ( with verification of eligibility to sit for the NPTE with their application and must pass the NPTE within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated commitment tocompetency-based education including the ability to design implement and assess learning experiences that foster student mastery of clinical reasoning professional behaviors and evidence-based practice across the DPT curriculum.
  • Ability and willingness toprovide clinical instruction and supervision of studentswithin the programspro bono physical therapy practice integrating service learning and reflective practice consistent with the faculty members area of clinical expertise. This is often demonstrated by having served as a clinical instructor.
  • Proven ability towork collaboratively within an interdisciplinary and diverse academic community demonstrating flexibility effective communication and cultural responsiveness in contributing to a collegial team environment that supports student and faculty success.
  • Demonstrated commitmentto continuous professional development demonstrated by post-professional continuing education recognized specialization(e.g. board certification through ABPTS) or current enrollment in or completion of a post-entry level degree.
  • Experience in anatomy instruction in post-secondary education or willingness to assume anatomy instruction (with additional training and support) as part of assigned load.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing and delivering innovative learner-centered and inclusive teaching strategies within a competency based or integrated curriculum model in an entry-level DPT program.
  • Evidence of scholarly activity or professional engagement in clinical practice teaching and learning or community-based health initiatives with potential to contribute to the programs collective scholarship goals.
  • Experience withrural health care delivery community partnerships or underserved populationssupporting the programs mission to prepare practitioners who enhance access to care and promote population health in Wisconsin and beyond.

Terms of Employment:

This is an ongoing non tenure-track 12-month academic staff position.
