Job Summary

JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION: English Language Development TeacherREPORTS TO: DirectorACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:The ELD teacher is an energetic and flexible employee who is eager to work in a therapeutic day school with a high needs population. The ELD teachers at CMC provide direct services to identified students within CMCs Therapeutic Day Schools for students in grades kindergarten through age 22. The ELD teachers are responsible for providing English language development lessons in a manner that maximizes student learning and allows the student as much access to the general curriculum as possible. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Designs well planned and organized lessons using the WIDA framework which include clearly stated objectives to develop students receptive and expressive language skills in all four language domains for each student.2. Develop effective classroom presentation techniques and review correct and reinforce instructional lessons to enhance the learning and retention process. 3. Use grouping strategies (push-in and pull out) to ensure students learn objectives of the lesson (individual and/or small groups) and effectively manage each group of students while providing for a variety of learning styles ability levels and social/emotional needs.4. Provide appropriate accommodations as identified in a students IEP.5. Administer and facilitate the ACCESS and MODEL and maintain EL data and student progress within the Google platform.6. Write EL Current Performance Reports and participate in IEP and attendance meetings.7. Develop effective techniques for academic assessment and management of discipline and behavior reinforcement. 8. Create a structured therapeutic safe environment for all students. 9. Implement behavior plans for the class and individual students.10. Complete CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention training upon hire and maintain CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention certification. 11. Demonstrates appreciation of the cultural diversity of all students at the collaborative.12. Collaborate with the ELD team classroom teachers support service providers clinicians and administrators. 13. Demonstrate sound judgments and decisions aligned with school regulations and philosophy. 14. Demonstrate sound judgments and decisions aligned with school regulations and philosophy and promote a positive school climate that fosters high student expectations and employs appropriate strategies that address multiple learning styles for all students.15. Demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to deal with people in a professional manner in all situations.16. Maintain data and all required documentation.17. Able to reach grasp and handle objects using upper extremities and able to lift and carry objects and/or classroom equipment up to 45 pounds. 18. Additional tasks at the discretion of the Director.
