Performs skilled and semi-skilled supervisory work involving the daily maintenance repair and preparation of tennis courts and grounds at the Orlando Tennis Centre (OTC) which includes 11 Har-Tru (clay) courts and 6 hard courts. Work involves the use of specialized court maintenance equipment and techniques to ensure all courts meet professional playing standards. Responsibilities include daily grooming rolling and dragging of Har-Tru courts; cleaning and maintaining hard court surfaces; line sweeping and repair; irrigation and drainage management; and upkeep of landscaped and spectator areas surrounding the courts.
The employee in this position is responsible for leading and training part-time and seasonal maintenance staff maintaining court maintenance equipment coordinating with supervisors on scheduling and tournament preparation and ensuring all courts and grounds are safe clean and playable. Work requires a high degree of physical activity attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Functions:
Performs daily maintenance on 11 Har-Tru clay courts including brushing rolling dragging line sweeping and surface watering to maintain optimal play conditions.
Performs regular cleaning and upkeep of 6 hard tennis courts including pressure washing blowing debris and monitoring surface integrity.
Repairs and replaces court lines tapes and nets as needed.
Inspects operates and maintains specialized court maintenance equipment (rollers brushes blowers etc.).
Manages and maintains court irrigation systems and drainage to ensure proper surface moisture and playability.
Trims and maintains grass walkways and landscaping around courts fences and player areas.
Ensures all court coolers benches shoe cleaners and amenities are clean and properly stocked.
Reports surface conditions repairs and maintenance needs to management.
Assists with setup and preparation for tournaments special events and City programs.
Provides guidance and direction to assigned maintenance staff to ensure work is completed efficiently and safely.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED; two (2) years of experience in tennis court and grounds maintenance including Har-Tru and hard court surfaces required; or an equivalent combination of education training and experience. Required to work evenings weekends and holidays as needed. Must be available to work flexible hours including early mornings evenings weekends and during tournaments or special events. Valid Florida Drivers License required. Must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks such as bending lifting and pulling. Demonstrated reliability attention to detail and ability to lead and train maintenance staff. Florida Restricted Pesticide License preferred. Commercial Drivers License (CDL) preferred.
