Ambulatory Care Unit
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Ambulatory Care Unit team specializing in the preoperative preparation and postoperative discharge of surgical patients. This role is ideal for a nurse who thrives in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment and is committed to delivering high-quality patient-centered care.
Youll work with patients undergoing general surgery orthopedics cardiac cath lab gastrointestinal neurosurgery ENT and urology providing care throughout the perioperative process from preadmission testing and day-of-surgery prep to Phase II inpatient transfer and discharge.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications collect specimens and perform clinical treatments
- Monitor and document patient condition communicating changes to the care team
- Assist patients with daily living activities including hygiene nutrition and mobility
- Educate patients and families based on age culture and condition throughout the surgical experience
- Coordinate patient transfers discharges and psychosocial/spiritual support
- Uphold infection control standards and monitor the sterile field
- Participate in Universal Protocol and surgical time out safety procedures
- Initiate emergency resuscitative measures per ACLS protocols when necessary

Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic Clinical Insurance Financial Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens may be present. Physical Requirements (typical): Frequent standing walking lifting/moving patients keyboard entry and repetitive hand/arm movements; occasional sitting squatting and kneeling; rare running or climbing. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards including blood/body fluids hazardous medications and latex.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Education: Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred. Licensure/Certifications: Current RN license in state of practice; BCLS required; ACLS and PALS preferred; Handle with Care preferred. Skills: Critical thinking and decisive judgment; ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; proficiency navigating multiple clinical software systems; effective English communication (read write speak and understand); ability to complete Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
