Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in Native American Studies; OR Possession of a Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline (e.g. Ethnic Studies Sociology American Studies History etc.) with an emphasis in Native American Studies; ( NOTE : If you are applying for this position on the basis of a Masters Degree in a related discipline please be aware that your college transcript must clearly indicate the emphasis in Native American Studies. If there is no notation of emphasis on your transcripts then you will have to supply additional documentation from the degree-granting institution that verifies the emphasis and identifies the specific coursework that demonstrates your emphasis in Native American Studies.) OR May submit a fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential authorizing service to teach courses in Native American Studies. (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1 1990). OR The equivalent qualifications. (Candidates who claim equivalency must provide conclusive evidence as clear and reliable on the college transcripts as required on the District Equivalency Application Form. Refer to the Equivalency Procedures below. This is not a process to waive the minimum qualifications.) Note: Foreign Degree(s) must be evaluated by an official foreign credentials/transcripts evaluation and translation service. AND Understanding of sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
