What you will be doing:
As the Regional Director you will oversee residential mortgage underwriting for a team of Home Financing Lending Managers (HFLMs). You will ensure underwriting quality and condition fulfillment for mortgages originating from Home Financing Solutions (HFS). Reporting directly to the Vice President Mortgage Operations and Technology you will drive profitable growth credit quality operational efficiency customer experience and retention of mortgage volume.
Is this role right for you In this role you will:
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership to experienced mortgage underwriters and collaborate with selected Home Financing Advisors (HFAs) aligning with Canadian Bank and HFS strategies to foster a customer-focused sales culture and achieve retention and revenue growth.
- Directly manage and coach 2025 HFLMs; set goals and balanced scorecards monitor pipelines and address performance issues.
- Develop individualized business plans; oversee onboarding and training.
- Collaborate with Sales on HFA segmentation and pipeline health.
Underwriting Oversight
- Ensure accurate underwriting adjudication and due diligence for mortgage applications.
- Communicate lending policies; review escalated files and appraisals.
- Monitor portfolio trends and implement corrective actions to maintain credit quality.
Strategic Execution
- Implement tactical strategies aligned with HFS objectives.
- Manage budgets and resources; resolve cross-functional issues.
- Escalate risks and recommend solutions to VP Home Financing Solutions.
Operational & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to Bank policies regulatory requirements AML FCAC and Know Your Customer standards etc.
- Detect and escalate irregular or fraudulent activity; enforce credit limits and system accuracy
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role - Wed love to work with you if you have:
- Bilingualism in both English and French is an asset.
- University degree preferred.
- Expert knowledge of real estate and mortgage industry (10 years) products programs policies systems (MIMs Intralink) and Bank operating procedures.
- Strong leadership experience (5 years) including leading remote and centralized teams.
- Proven underwriting expertise with credit authority and ability to review loans above HFA limits; skilled in financial and risk analysis credit adjudication and compliance.
- Knowledge of competitor products and services; understanding of Bank retail products to support cross-selling.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for team building client relationships and public speaking.
- Ability to influence challenge the status quo and foster a customer-focused sales culture.
- Excellent business development networking and presentation skills.
- Highly organized with strong planning and multi-tasking capabilities; able to work independently with minimal direction.
- Solid understanding of legal regulatory and competitor practices.
- Strong computer skills (Word Excel PowerPoint).
