Job Summary
Job Description Summary
Under general supervision performs technical work in biology and microbiology. This may require working some evenings and weekends if needed.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of: laboratory equipment materials supplies and procedures as used in the particular science laboratory principles of the appropriate science Ability to: * perform routine and analytical determinations * learn factors involved in purchasing science laboratory supplies and equipment * prepare demonstration and laboratory set-ups * order receive and issue supplies materials and equipment * operate maintain and repair technical laboratory equipment * analyze laboratory procedures and make suggestions for improvements * maintain records of supplies and equipment * do research as needed
Minimum Qualifications
1. Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 12 semester units of biology or biologically related sciences from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of training education and qualifying experience which demonstrates the skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties for this position. (Must submit a copy of college transcripts with application.) 2. Two (2) plus years experience working in a laboratory. 3. Experience using standard laboratory equipment: autoclave pH meters centrifuges spectrophotometers incubators pipet aids scales or magnetic stirrers. 4. Experience keeping accurate records and maintaining inventory control. 5. Understanding of sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural and disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
