As part of GE Aerospace Engineering the Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for ownership of the execution of the mechanical systems for this position you will implement the program strategy to achieve long term product development goals. You will work with a cross-functional and global team through all major design phases (CDR PDR DDR) to meet program requirements and milestones. Success in this role requires effective communication and establishment of close relationships to collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the design analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards practices procedures and product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering design for RISE.
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products processes or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Demonstrates strong decision-making and problem-solving skills in operational product management manufacturing technology or engineering contexts. Evaluates information critically engages stakeholders with relevant questions and proposes innovative solutions beyond established boundaries offering actionable recommendations.
  • Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements risk and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this job opening.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in jet engine design engineering
  • Demonstrated expertise in design and analysis tools such as NX and ANSYS.
  • Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings.
  • Experience in manufacturing high-precision turbomachinery components.
  • Familiarity with and ability to leverage FLIGHT DECK GE Aerospaces proprietary LEAN operating model.
  • Strong oral written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • History of building an inclusive culture with global teams
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation planning & program management skills.
  • Ability to independently organize document plan and execute simultaneous projects while aligning with business priorities.

The base pay range for this position is $121500 -$186400. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the posting is expected to close on Sunday December 7.
