Position Summary
The Department of World Languages and Cultures in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for non tenure-track adjunct position in Japanese Studies to begin January 5 2026 The duties in this role include: Plan and teach content and material according to the JPST *240 Japanese Culture and Society class description and class number of credits (4 credits). Formally evaluate students at least 4 times per semester. Provide timely feedback to and interact with students to promote the acquisition of class content. Communicate and report to WLC Chairperson and to NCC Registrars Office as needed. Basic Qualifications: Basic qualifications are required at the time of application. The successful candidate will have completed a Masters Degree or above in the field related to the class content The qualified individual should have at least: A Masters degree in the field related to the class content Pedagogical experience teaching the class content or related topics Pedagogical experience and/or training in the modality of the course (i.e. in-person/hybrid/online) Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students as well as ongoing scholarship. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications are not required qualifications for the position. Experience with teaching Japanese or Japanese Studies topics that add to the current departmental offerings; Demonstrated excellence in both teaching training in pedagogical methods and research. About NCC : Founded in 1861 North Central College is a selective comprehensive liberal arts institution of about 3000 students located 28 miles west of Chicago in Naperville. The College is in a period of growth with the addition of a $60 million Science Center (2017) and a new Health Sciences and Engineering building (2020).
