Job Summary
Job Description Summary: Supports pharmacy services to patients and medical practitioners. Services including but not limited to assisting with oversight monitoring preparation dispensing and proper documentation of patient medication therapy as well as providing drug information patient information and oversight of information and dispensing systems. Assist with compliance with Federal State and local laws and regulations as well as proper storage and documentation.
Pharmacy Technicians are an integral part of an effective team and support our hospitals by:
- Reviewing patient chart for refill requirements confirms dosage document fill charge out client.
- Working with outside vendors to review charts and approve or deny medications based on hospital criteria. * Receiving prescriptions both over the phone and in-person and via online portals.
- Maintaining pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level anticipating needed medications and supplies and removing outdated drugs.
- Maintaining a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures rules and regulations.
- Organizing medications for doctors to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions preparing labels calculating quantities and assembling oral and subcutaneous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
- Maintaining records by recording and filing physicians orders and prescriptions.
- Ensuring medication availability by delivering medications to patients and departments.
- Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Contacting referring physicians offices with questions over prescription
- Assisting clients in taking payments
- Mentoring other team members.
- Contributing to an engaging hospital environment and positive team dynamic.
- CAPABILITIES: Must be able to multi-task have good communication skills organizational ability problem solving skills client service skills and intellectual ability.
- ATTITUDE: Shows initiative integrity cooperativeness flexibility and tolerance for stress.
- PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
- The noise level in the work environment is moderately high.
- Requires sufficient ambulatory skills in order to perform duties while at hospital.
- Ability to stand walk stoop kneel and crouch regularly and climb occasionally as well as manipulate (lift carry move) up to 50 pounds.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Requires ability to wear personal protective equipment (e.g. face mask goggles latex/non-latex gloves) as needed.
