Job Summary and Responsibilities
A peer support specialist is a person with lived experience who has been trained to support those who struggle
with mental health psychological trauma or substance use.
- Experience in coping with life events successfully despite having a mental health challenge.
- Help individuals in setting and achieving their own goals.
- Maintain high standards of personal conduct. Teach and role model the value of every individuals recovery
experience.
Job Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED required
- Must have experience with own personal mental health/substance abuse challenges.
- Experience as a Peer Support Specialist or working in a Psychiatric or Human Services setting preferred
