COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER SUPERVISOR REPORTS TO: PROJECT SUPPORT ENGINEER / SENIOR PROJECT SUPPORT ENGINEER HEATHROW
PURPOSE OF ROLE
This role is for a Communications Engineer Supervisor to work on the Heathrow Airport Technology Delivery Partner (TDP) Project. The role will be based at Heathrow Airport 5 days / Nights a week (typically Monday to Friday). The candidate will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of implementation projects across the campus in the installation of physical infrastructure and active network equipment internally and externally. The project is involved in large-scale construction work at the airport and adherence to relevant Health and Safety requirements is paramount.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Core Activities Understand the Companys H&S Policy and their allocated responsibilities.
Adequately and diligently supervise all works under their control.
Deliver NABS / DABS.
Completion of Point of work Risk assessments.
Completion of end of shift update reports.
They are to actively promote a positive health and safety culture.
That working areas are organised and well presented to ensure all work is carried out to the required
standard with minimum risk to personnel equipment and materials.
They liaise with other Contractors to avoid any confusion about areas of responsibility.
Ensure inspections of all equipment by qualified/competent persons are completed before use.
Responsible for supervising and installing networks infrastructure including.
o Cable pulling dressing in and termination & testing of voice CAT6 and fibre cables within an
Airport or Rail environment and must be able to complete the following tasks:
Installing comms cables (CAT6 Voice and Fibre multicore.
Installing of various types of containment (tray / basket)
Termination of CAT6 panels and outlets
Testing copper & fibre cables using Fluke DSX and OTDR preferred
Patching cat6 and fibre cables
Fault Finding issues.
Termination of multicore Fibre using a splicer (Fujikura 60s / 70S experience and
familiarity or similar preferred)
Undertake installation works to the Fujitsu / Heathrow standards.
Identify and highlight both H&S and implementation risks / issues to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
Ensure safe working practises are being maintained by yourself and others.
Day and night working as required to successfully deliver the project.
Carry all reasonable duties required for successful delivery of the project.
Undertake survey works and collate information into survey findings documentation.
EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
Experience
Has a similar level of supervisory experience.
Has a clear knowledge and experience of installing on-site IT infrastructure projects within challenging
operational environments.
Can successfully manage a team.
Can demonstrate knowledge of safe working practices.
Aviation or Rail experience preferable.

EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES
Technical Experience
Cabling and Physical Infrastructure installation.
Preferably has experience of Heathrow and airport equipment systems processes and installation
standards.
Has knowledge of network infrastructure fault finding and use of test equipment.
Attributes Excellent communication skills both written and spoken. Has a pro-active and collaborative approach to projects. Teamwork is a key success factor in Heathrow
projects. Computer literate Working knowledge of (Word PowerPoint Excel)

Qualifications Mandatory:
CSCS / ECS (Valid Industry related)
SSSTS
First Aid at Work Preferred but not mandatory:
Driving licence / Airside Driving experience
PASMA
IPAF
Working at Height Training.
Confined space and rescue.
Asbestos Awareness UKATA
Other required training will be provided.
Other Demonstratable 5 year working history to enable Airside pass authorisation
