Job Summary
Hornblower is seeking an Engineering Technician Mechanical for our Seaward Services operation in Norfolk VA.

About the Opportunity:
This role will be working with the Naval Surface Warfare Center upon award of contract. The Engineering Technician Mechanical provides advanced technical support for the testing maintenance troubleshooting and repair of small watercraft mechanical systems. This role requires hands-on expertise with propulsion steering hydraulic and auxiliary systems as well as leadership in guiding a team of technicians performing complex mechanical work. The technician ensures that all maintenance and testing activities are conducted safely efficiently and in accordance with applicable standards specifications and technical manuals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform inspection testing maintenance and repair of small watercraft mechanical systems and components.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues to determine root causes and corrective actions.
- Oversee and participate in installation modification and performance testing of mechanical systems.
- Lead and train junior mechanical technicians in maintenance repair and diagnostic procedures.
- Ensure all mechanical work is performed in accordance with engineering drawings technical manuals and quality assurance procedures.
- Maintain detailed maintenance and test records and prepare technical reports as required.
- Support system-level testing and evaluation activities including instrumentation setup and data collection.
- Collaborate with engineering staff and program management to plan and execute maintenance and testing schedules.
- Enforce safety environmental and quality control standards at all times.
- Recommend process improvements and assist in the development of maintenance procedures.
- Additional job duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of combined small watercraft mechanical experience required.
- Minimum of three (3) years performing testing maintenance repairs operations and troubleshooting of small watercraft mechanical systems required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience leading a mechanical team required.
- Certification or training in marine mechanics diesel engines or related mechanical systems.
- Experience with U.S. Navy Coast Guard or other military small watercraft programs.
- Familiarity with engineering documentation technical data packages and test plans.
- Strong leadership communication and organizational skills.
- May require lifting climbing and working in confined spaces.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools mechanical measurement instruments and maintenance software.
