Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated detailed orientated individual to serve as a Regional Assisted Living Supervisor. This individual will oversee a multidisciplinary team that conducts surveys of long-term care facilities located in assigned Region including state licensure surveys federal certification surveys and complaint surveys. The Regional Assisted Living Supervisor is responsible for assigning licensure certification and complaint surveys reviewing written survey documentation testifying in court and performing monitoring functions. Under administrative direction oversees facility survey activities. Provides administrative and technical direction to surveyors on nursing care issues during observation of medical treatment being provided to patients (i.e. catheter care to residents tube feeding proceedings medication administration pressure sore evaluation). Assures facility survey activities are conducted in accordance with state licensure requirements and Department directives program policies and procedures.

  • Under administrative direction oversees facility survey activities.
  • Serves as working supervisor.
  • Provides clinical oversight of compliance with state regulations and survey procedures for assisted living field staff by setting priorities on the complexity sensitivity and/or severity of specific survey activity.
  • Develops facility survey schedules reviews and processes survey packages and makes recommendations to Central Office.
  • Completes necessary surveyor training.
  • Responds to inquiries on assisted living topics.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college.
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in nursing.
  • Requires licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible administrative experience in Medicare/Medicaid related programs.
  • Three (3) or more years extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations related to Assisted Living facilities.
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience establishing maintaining and improving cooperative working relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Two (2) years of experience drafting reviewing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Two (2) years of experience communicating business with various agencies.
  • One (1) year work experience in Microsoft Word processing and spreadsheet applications (i.e. Microsoft Word Microsoft Outlook Excel PowerPoint).

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires appropriate valid drivers license.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Overtime is a condition of employment and you may be requested or required/mandated to work overtime including scheduled unscheduled or last-minute overtime. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related polices and guidance.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
