Summary

APS is looking for a Transmission Service Analyst. The Transmission Service Analyst is responsible and accountable for near term sales reservations and scheduling of APS transmission services and maintenance of associated databases.

As a Transmission Service Analyst you will :

  • Provide quotes for near-term APS transmission services and negotiate rates in compliance with FERC Order 888B.
  • Maintain and update OASIS postings for transmission capacity changes outages and schedules.
  • Process transmission service requests analyze system limitations and ensure daily availability.
  • Prepare and coordinate daily energy pre-schedules confirm with control areas and support real-time operations.
  • Represent APS in scheduling and transmission service discussions and assist with energy accounting and invoicing.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School graduate/GED and two (2) years experience performing technical support for engineering or operations or equivalent related experience.
    Proficient in utilization of computers.
  • Good interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
  • Introductory college math and algebra skills.


Major Accountabilities

1) Provide quotes for near term sales of APS transmission services to maximize the profits from use of the APS transmission system within guidelines provided by supervision. Negotiation transmission rates as proscribed in FERC order 888B.

2) Update Open Access Same Time Information System (OASIS) posting for changes in Total Transfer Capability Available Transmission Capacity (ATC) resulting from scheduled outages of transmission system and generation facilities reserved transmission transmission schedules and changes to schedules.

3) Process all requests for near term transmission services through the availability of transmission by analyzing prior transmission reservations and scheduled and unscheduled outages to determine system limitations on a daily basis.

4) Prepare and assemble daily energy pre-schedules making necessary adjustments to effectively match available transmission resources to current estimated load and resource and coordinate pre-schedules with other affected entities confirming with adjacent control areas at the end of each shift enter into the computer database and transfer to the Energy Control Center (ECC) Supervisors for implementation in the real time operational horizon.

5) Represent APS in dealing with other entities such as transmission customers and other control areas on issues such as scheduling and transmission services.

6) Assist the Real-time ECC Supervisors in scheduling problems through research and contacting neighboring utilities and report findings to the Supervisors to mitigate system reliability problems along with after the fact accounting issues.

7) Assist Energy Accounting and System Reporting personnel with after the fact accounting for energy schedules and invoicing of transmission services transactions.





Hybrid:Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).

In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.

  • Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).
  • Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
