Job Overview
The Behavioral Assistant provides assistance to students with behavioral challenges on the autism spectrum emotional/behavioral disabilities intellectual disabilities and related developmental disabilities under the direction of a licensed teacher.
Roles and Responsibilities

- Supports the implementation of the behavior plans for students
- Participates in on-going training in highly specialized strategies and interventions for implementing individualized behavior plans under the direction of staff
- Uses training to take appropriate actions to deal with recurring behavioral situations with the supervision of the teacher
Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
Education
High School Diploma or GED supplemented by course work in child development or a related field
Experience
Experience working with students with behavioral challenges on the autism spectrum emotional/behavioral disabilities intellectual disabilities and/or other developmental disabilities
Licenses and Certifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge abilities and skills to effectively manage the behaviors of children with behavioral and learning challenges
- Ability to collect record and use behavioral and instructional data
Physical Requirements
The following provides a brief description of physical requirements for this job:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly talking expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately loudly or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn recall and apply certain practices and policies. Work requires frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time; exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amounts of force frequently to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects.

Months/Days/Hours: 10 months/ 188 days/ 7 hours
Salary Level: Universal 4
Salary Scale: Range: $35.41 - $39.51 hourly
