Job Title: Shipping Quality Control Technician

Supervisor: Greenhouse Shipping Coordinator

Starting Rate: $21.50
PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
The primary purpose of the Shipping Quality Control Technician is to demonstrate professional behavior with a team-based mentality to ensure that all products produced by Walters Gardens are shipped out with the highest standards for quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Moisture Management
- Maintain proper moisture levels on all plants in shipping areas both on racks and on carts.
- Learn moisture requirements for each variety and plant size
- Check moisture levels on rack product in main building when orders are postponed
- Communicate with lead grower if moisture levels of incoming plants from contact growers are managed incorrectly
- Create watering notes for both S range and main building for the weekend watering crew to use as a guideline
- Participate and coordinate with weekend watering team as needed
Plant Health Responsibilities
- Assist IPM manager by scouting and identifying insects crown gall diseases or pathogens on items in S range
- Communicate with IPM team on crops in S range that need applications
Additional Duties
- Daily shipping duties as directed by Greenhouse Shipping Coordinator
- Oversee the order-pulling work done by H2A staff
- Quality check carts after orders have been pulled
- When quality issues arise oversee and correct order-pulling staff
- Twice daily quality checks of S range
- Replace missing plugs and fix any quality issues that may arise in a timely manner
- Organize staff to help clean product on larger jobs when needed
- Quality checks all product for boxing line
- Participate in meetings and educational events when directed by supervisor.
- Communicate with lead grower if there are constant quality issues in product from contract grower
Off Season Duties
- Maintain high quality standards for material being sorted by production staff both in the greenhouse and in the processing room
- Asist staff in sorting/planting when needed
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- 2 years of greenhouse experience preferred
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Strong organizational and math skills
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office Microsoft 360 and Microsoft Teams
- Desire to work in a collaborative environment
- Available to work weekends as needed
