An Accounting BSA (Business Systems Analyst) plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between accounting teams and IT or system development teams. Core Responsibilities of an Accounting BSA
1. Requirements Gathering & Analysis
o Work with accounting and finance teams to understand business needs.
o Translate those needs into technical requirements for system enhancements or new implementations.
2. System Implementation & Support
o Assist in the design testing and deployment of accounting systems (e.g. ERP systems like SAP Oracle Workday).
o Ensure systems support accurate financial reporting compliance and operational efficiency.
3. Process Improvement
o Identify inefficiencies in current accounting workflows.
o Recommend and implement system-based solutions to streamline processes.
4. Data Integrity & Reporting
o Ensure financial data is accurately captured and reported.
o Support the creation of dashboards reports and analytics for decision-making.
5. Compliance & Controls
o Ensure systems adhere to internal controls and external regulations (e.g. SOX GAAP).
o Collaborate with auditors and compliance teams during reviews.
6. Cross-functional Collaboration
o Act as a liaison between accounting IT and other business units.
o Facilitate communication to ensure system changes meet all stakeholder needs.
7. Training & Documentation
o Provide training to end-users on new systems or features.
o Maintain documentation for processes configurations and system changes.
Roles & Responsibilities
Strong understanding of accounting principles.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle NetSuite).
Proficiency in SQL Excel and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau).
