What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $25.00-$27.00/hour based on education and experience. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

The City and County of Denver has announced furlough days or unpaid days off for most employees to meet a budget shortfall in 2025. There are two fixed furlough days for all limited (temporary positions with an end date) and unlimited (permanent) employees on August 29th the Friday before Labor Day and November 28th the day after Thanksgiving. If you receive an offer for this position your annual pay will determine whether you are required to take additional furlough days. Details will be discussed during the offer process for selected candidate(s).

Location

In this position you can expect to report downtown to the Wellington Webb building (201 W. Colfax Ave. Denver 80202) at the start of the shift and then patrol an assigned area of the City on foot and/or in a vehicle for the remainder of the shift.

During the first week of training you will be scheduled from 7:15-3:45pm. The next several weeks of training will be field training with mainly day shifts and swing shifts. After training you will be placed on one of the following shifts based on operational need. Scheduling assignments are determined using a shift bidding system where you may bid on the following shifts. Hours/schedules can change.

  • Monday Friday 5:15 AM 1:45 PM

  • Monday Friday 7:15 AM 3:45 PM

  • Monday Friday 11:30 AM 8:00 PM (7% shift differential)

  • FOUR/TEN SHIFT Wednesday Saturday 11:30 AM 10:00 PM (7% shift differential)

What Youll Do

The Right of Way Enforcement (ROWE) Division of DOTI is seeking full-time Parking Enforcement Agents! We are looking for dedicated detail-oriented individuals who excel in customer service and enjoy working in a dynamic outdoor environment. If youre seeking a non-traditional role that makes a tangible impact on the community this could be the ideal position for you. Help us keep our city safe accessible and efficient for everyone!

Specifically as a Parking Enforcement Agent:

  • You will issue citations for both on-street off-street and private property parking violations. Parking Enforcement Agents administer vehicle towing for the City and provide parking enforcement for sporting and other special events.

  • Be an ambassador of the City of Denver to visitors and citizens. You will be responsible for enforcing compliance with parking regulations through the issuance of citations for violations of the revised municipal code as well as other laws rules and regulations governing parking.

  • Walk 10 - 15 miles per day and/or operate a City Vehicle (left-hand right-hand and three-wheeled vehicles) in all weather conditions and issuing parking tickets.

  • Be required to deal with the public and remain courteous and calm while providing great customer service. You will receive extensive training that will provide you with the tools to be successful.

What Youll Bring

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience skills and characteristics:

  • Outstanding communication skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and deescalate tense situations

  • Prior experience in security law enforcement or code enforcement

  • Experience working independently without direct supervision

  • We are looking for a person who can be an ambassador for the City and County of Denver while carrying out right of way enforcement duties

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED HiSET or TASC Certificate.

  • Experience Requirement: One (1) year of public contact experience providing information and relating rules codes regulations and procedures.

  • Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.

  • License/Certifications: Requires a valid Drivers License at the time of application.
    Must obtain a Code Enforcement Commission Certification from the Executive Director of Safetys Office. This certification is required in accordance with the City Charter and the Denver Revised Municipal Code. Failure to obtain the certification will result in the withdrawal of the offer for the position or end probationary status.

  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
