The Piping Designer is responsible for creating detailed 3D piping models and construction-ready drawings for power plant projects using Autodesk Plant 3D. This role supports engineering procurement and construction teams by developing accurate layouts routing isometrics and documentation in compliance with power plant standards and design codes.
3D Piping Design & Modeling
Develop and maintain 3D piping layouts in Autodesk Plant 3D for power generation facilities (thermal nuclear CCPP hydro biomass etc.).
Perform piping routing including process utility and service lines ensuring adherence to design criteria and equipment clearances.
Generate equipment models pipe supports platforms and access layouts.
Coordinate clash detection with structural electrical mechanical and instrumentation disciplines.
Drawing & Documentation
Prepare piping isometric drawings GA drawings spool drawings and support details.
Extract BOMs MTOs and reports from Plant 3D for procurement and fabrication.
Maintain drawing records revision control and project documentation in accordance with QA/QC procedures.
Design Coordination
Collaborate with piping engineers stress engineers process engineers and project managers during design development.
Support site teams by providing detailed drawings and design clarifications.
Participate in model reviews (30% 60% 90% IFC stage).
Standards & Compliance
Follow industry codes and standards such as ASME B31.1 B31.3 API ISO and project-specific guidelines.
Ensure piping design meets requirements for thermal expansion safety accessibility maintainability and construct ability.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Piping Design or related field.
38 years of piping design experience in the power sector EPC energy or heavy industrial plants.
Strong hands-on experience with Autodesk Plant 3D (mandatory).
Familiarity with Navisworks AutoCAD and other 3D modeling tools is a plus.
