Job Summary

Ergon - West Virginia Newell WV currently has an opening for a Maintenance Planner/Coordinator.

The Maintenance/Planner Coordinator is a logistical support position to the Maintenance/Engineering Department. This position provides comprehensive planning scheduling and logistical coordination for the repair service and optimization of plant process equipment and related systems. This role ensures efficient execution of maintenance activities by leveraging digital tools data analytics and proactive communication across departments.

Maintenance Planner/Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Always keeps safe work habits as the highest priority.
  • Plan and coordinate the maintenance work for all rotating and mechanical equipment including but not limited to compressors pumps steam turbines lubrication systems as well as piping vessels structures electrical and instrumentation.
  • Lead planning and coordinating activities such as shutdowns outages Turnarounds regular work orders preventative maintenance work orders and project work orders. Ensure all scopes of work are clearly defined resources are efficiently allocated and critical path activities are managed to minimize downtime and cost.
  • Develop comprehensive turnaround work packages that include labor materials permits safety plans and quality assurance requirements.
  • Work closely with Operations Engineering Procurement and Contractors to establish execution timelines contingency plans and readiness reviews for all shutdown and turnaround events.
  • Participate in post-turnaround reviews and lessons-learned sessions to identify improvement opportunities and update planning standards accordingly.
  • Coordinate shutdown maintenance windows to efficiently address short duration equipment outages ensuring alignment with production priorities and safety procotol.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and developing sequences and craft requirements for process-related equipment before repair work begins.
  • Assure communication between the Operations and Maintenance Departments for permits and scheduling of work.
  • Follow accepted Ergon practices and procedures as required to complete tasks.
  • Verify completion of work orders and properly document all service and repairs.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance work orders on all equipment and assist in continual improvement of the preventative maintenance program.
  • Develop daily work schedules for Maintenance Crafts and Contractors.
  • Generate and distribute departmental reports.
  • Maintain equipment files.
  • Maintain master data and records in SAP.
  • Analyze SAP work orders for manpower material and equipment requirements.
  • Maintain work order backlog and work order status.
  • Requisition material and services.
  • Collaborate with Reliability Engineers to develop predictive maintenance strategies using condition-based monitoring technologies (e.g. vibration analysis thermography and oil analysis).
  • Generate and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance backlog schedule compliance and equipment reliability.
  • Facilitate daily/weekly maintenance planning meetings and ensure alignment with operations priorities and production goals.
  • Champion the use of digital work management tools and mobile devices for work order tracking asset data collection and performance reporting.
  • Support sustainability initiatives by optimizing resource usage and minimizing equipment downtime and waste generation.
  • Available for call-out as needed.

Maintenance Planner/Coordinator Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelors degree or technical certification in Engineering Maintenance Management or related discipline is preferred.
  • 7 years experience in maintenance and/or planning or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of mechanical repairs welding practices pipefitting instrumentation electrical components insulation and general construction.
  • Knowledge of petroleum products is desired.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Above average knowledge of MS Office including Word Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with modern Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) SAP or similar platforms preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities; capable of prioritizing multiple tasks in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) principles and proactive safety culture.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Must maintain good working relationship with plant personnel contractors and vendors.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card.
