Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The Neurodevelopmental Service offers community based mental health services to children adolescents and their families. The clients in the service will range in age from 5-17 years and have a primary presentation of Autism Tourette Syndrome Intellectual Disability often in conjunction with common co-morbid problems. They have a broad range of behavioral emotional and mental health concerns that impact their home school and community environments. Clients and their families will receive services that are delivered using a family-centered approach.

This Mental Health Clinician position will provide primarily complex case coordination and family-focused therapy services to clients and their families who are referred to the Neurodevelopmental Service at Child and Youth Treatment Services. The clients in the service will range in age from 5 17 years and have a primary presentation of Autism Tourette Syndrome ADHD Anxiety Intellectual disability and have a broad range of behavioral emotional and mental health concerns that impact on their home school and community environments. Services are delivered using a family centered approach in a community-based setting.

Experience

  • 4-5 years experience working with children youth and families in mental health required.
  • Experience with Brief Treatment Cognitive Behavioural Therapy behavioural and emotional regulation and family systems interventions an asset.
  • Providing individual parent/care provider and group-focused intervention.
  • Working within a multidisciplinary team.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Masters degree in a relevant health discipline from an accredited education institution required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Core knowledge of child and adolescent development and mental health issues in childhood and adolescence with an emphasis on Tourette syndrome ADHD ASD intellectual disability and anxiety.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary health and social services team.
  • Training and demonstrated skill in several clinical modalities with an emphasis on family therapy intervention.
  • Experience with Brief Treatment CBT and behavioral interventions both individually and as they relate to integration within a family system approach an asset.
  • Knowledge of community-based mental health service delivery culturally competent practice and the bio-psychosocial approach to mental health are desirable.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the impact of our history related to colonization and outcomes from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission including its Calls to Action.

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings.
  • May be required to travel throughout the service area requiring a valid Manitoba drivers license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
