DescriptionThis position is a paraprofessional accounting position in the Financial Information and Services Support Group where the incumbent is required to perform accounting tasks in support of and in consultation with professional accounting personnel. The incumbent is expected to have broad experience and knowledge of accounting processes and technical expertise in automated accounting systems including new tools and techniques being implemented throughout the finance community. This is a specialist level accounting position performing accounting clerical assignments of above average difficulty and resolves unusual or non-recurring problems related to various accounting functions including analyzing accounts records reports journals vouchers; investigating questionable entries and initiating corrections; Incumbents are expected to help maintain and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Responsibilities- Assist operations support group in setting up and maintaining automated accounting processes such as journal generation journal processing translations closings and consolidations.
- Resolve problems troubleshoot and provide informal training for credit card support.
- Prepare special studies and reports for the finance and records department as required.
- Reconcile accounts review reconciliations and make sure that all outstanding items are properly cleared.
- Accurately analyze and verify accounting / financial / operational information and error lists for accuracy and completeness and initiate appropriate correcting processes. Assist in process redesign to prevent future errors.
- While expected results of various individual positions may vary they will all typically center around timeliness accuracy throughput and integrity of information.
Qualifications- Vocational studies in administratation or accounting or two years of college accounting courses.
- Completion of an Associate Degree in Administration or Accounting is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft tools.
- General knowledge and understanding of accounting bookkeeping principles methods procedures and financial processes.
- Basic analytical skills.
- Customer service experience would be an advantage.
- English proficiency required. Any other European language would be an advantage.
