Responsibilities
- Manage the Councils Housing Solutions Reviews Service efficiently.
- Conduct reviews of complex cases including those under legal or political scrutiny.
- Collaborate with Legal Services attend court hearings and provide instructions for legal proceedings.
- Produce briefing reports and attend case conferences with Legal Services.
- Ensure statutory decisions withstand political media and legal scrutiny.
- Oversee daily operations of the Homelessness Review Service including housing reviews for social housing applicants.
- Monitor service performance and maintain high standards of customer care.
- Manage temporary accommodation usage during review and appeal processes.
- Act as the Councils professional lead for service delivery policy development and strategic planning.
- Deliver training on best practices and legislation internally and externally.
Requirements
- Proven experience in managing housing reviews and appeals within a local authority or similar environment.
- Experience in interpreting and applying housing legislation including the Homelessness Act 2017.
- Strong background in working with legal services and attending court proceedings.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic and operational initiatives in housing services.
- Experience in managing budgets and controlling costs related to legal processes and temporary accommodation.
Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in housing law or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of housing legislation and homelessness prevention strategies.
Additional Information
- Working hours: 35 hours per week
- DBS required for the role.
