| Job Summary: |
Serves as lead technician/inspector under the general supervision of a resident engineer (RE) or project supervisor. Monitors and evaluates contract compliance in regard to ADOT Standard specifications project special provisions and plans/standard drawings. Follows relevant U.S. Department of Labor ADEQ and FHWAs laws and regulations. Assists the RE or project supervisor for all construction material documentation reviews scheduling monitoring and mentoring inspection staff. Performs a variety of highly technical activities (sampling testing verifying tracking) related to material inspection on highway Construction projects. Inspects and documents all complex contract items; performs related duties as necessary due to staffing requirements. Assists with inclement weather (i.e. winter storms) or emergency work including any or all of the following: District front desk office work dispatching or road block/traffic control assistance.
| Job Duties: |
Inspect construction activities and contract items to ensure compliance with ADOT standard specifications standard drawings and project specific special provision and plans as well as applicable Federal laws rules and policies and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality requirements. Use a State vehicle in the course of these duties.
Prepares field documentation and verifies field calculations for input to the PEN and Fast systems. Review technical problems and develop procedures and recommendations for resolution of issues related to assignment. Performs complex analysis and calculations. Review laboratory tests materials spread rates quantities and other contract related documents.
Consult with contractors and other agency personnel to resolve construction related issues. Escalates issues as necessary. Performs complex analysis and calculations. Review laboratory tests materials spread rates quantities and other contract related documents.

Four years experience or two years journey level experience in inspection of highway construction hot mix and concrete plans orPerforming administrative or advanced engineering and construction records maintenance and related duties. A Bachelors degree in engineering or closely related curriculum may be substituted for the required experience. Any combination of training and experience that meets the KSAs may be substituted. Erosion Control Coordinator (ECC) certification preferred.

Valid Drivers License -This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).
ATTI and ACI certification
