Apply today to our Assistant Director Financial Aid opening! Reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid Services the Assistant Director will have three primary areas of responsibility. First as a member of the Flyer Student Services team specializing in financial aid this position supports students in making informed decisions about financing their education and achieving academic success. The assistant director will serve as a primary counselor for escalated financial aid conversations referred by the Flyer Student Services counseling team and EdAmerica (UDs student services partner). Responsibilities include educating students and their families about the financial aid process reviewing FAFSA applications determining and adjusting various types of financial assistance providing education on loans and other financing options and exercising professional judgment. This individual is expected to use problem-solving skills on a daily basis. Secondly this individual is responsible for improving communication with students including messaging through Porches email and one-call communications by leveraging various technology platforms such as the CRM. This individual is responsible for coordinating and maintaining a regular schedule of proactive outreach to students. Finally the Assistant Director is expected and encouraged to identify recommend and implement process changes to enhance services. To be effective this individual will collaborate with various colleagues in the division and university to support students retention and ensure accuracy in a students financial aid awards. | Minimum Qualifications: | * Bachelors Degree * At least 2 years of experience providing service in a professional fast-paced deadline-driven environment * The ability to work with multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment * Strong written communication skills and attention to detail * The successful candidate must be self-motivated and have the ability to work independently * Ability to provide leadership as a collaborative team member |

| Preferred Qualifications: | While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following: * Masters Degree in Business Higher Education Administration or a related field * 2 years of financial aid counseling experience in a professional fast-paced deadline-driven environment with a primary focus on communication counseling skills and the ability to solve complex problems * Enrollment Management or Higher Education experience at a private University * Strong customer-oriented approach and the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families and students of diverse backgrounds * Strong oral communication skills * Demonstrated use of analytical skills to assess and evaluate student scenarios to provide appropriate education and counseling * Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills * Demonstrated ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with a variety of constituents and evidence of strong interpersonal skills * Knowledge of Title IV Programs and federal financial aid regulations * Knowledge and experience with Ellucian Banner software and Salesforce CRM environments * Ability to work with staff students and families in a manner consistent with Catholic and Marianist values and principles |
