Act as a liaison to food service for the patient family and staff. Tasks as liaison: explaining the meal selection process; assist menu selection of patients according to prescribed diet order using HealthTouch. To assure patients are fed within 45 minutes of ordering the meal.Major Responsibilities:
1. Communicates on the telephone in an efficient pleasant and respectful manner even during periods of high call volume to assist patients and guests with their meal service selections. At peak time a call center operator answers the phone and immediately enters a complete order into the HealthTouch system. A call center operators average call time will range between 1 ½ - 2 minutes.
2. Reviews therapeutic diet orders and modify the patients order to meet the diet order parameters while attempting to honor the patients request and be aesthetically pleasing. This includes nourishments supplements and tube feeding.
3. Speaks with the patient family member(s) or nurse to explain needed modifications regarding meal orders. To communicate changes and if possible find a satisfactory substitution. To ensure a nutritionally balanced meal that meets the dietary restrictions of the patients diet order.
4. Communicate on the phone to patients staff and guests according to department scripting policy and procedures.
5. Communicates patient diet order issues to the Supervisor or clinical dietitian when policy mandates.

1. High school education or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in a healthcare setting.
3. Knowledge of specialized diets and menus.
4. Bilingual.
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Previous customer service and/or call center experience.
2. Knowledge and ability to utilize personal computers or data terminals to record verify and retrieve standard information.
3. Ability to read write speak and communicate in English.
4. Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions.
5. Ability to communicate with patients hospital personnel and co-workers.
Preferred:
1. Previous related experience to be familiar with basic nutrition and food service operations functions and procedures.
Unless certification licensure or registration is required an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
