Vestcom an Avery Dennison Company designs and builds its own converting and robotic equipment that supports the manufacture and production of our high-quality retail labeling and pricing solutions.. We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Machine Group. This role is responsible for the design improvement and support of our custom manufacturing and automation systems used across Vestcoms production network.. This position requires demonstrated mechanical engineering expertise and independent judgment in solving moderately to highly complex design and process challenges. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in engineering manufacturing/production and maintenance to optimize performance ensure safety compliance and enable scalability in production.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Overseeing the installation testing and commissioning of mechanical systems and equipment designs ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Designing new devices components and systems using CAD software to create models and redesigning existing products to improve efficiency or resolve issues.
Developing and testing prototypes to evaluate performance and making necessary design adjustments based on test results.
Supervising the manufacturing process to ensure designs are produced according to specifications and quality standards.
Work cross-functionally in teams including manual machining CNC and assembly
Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation including blueprints technical drawings test procedures and reports for various stakeholders.
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
3 years of engineering experience in mechanical system design robotics or automation in a manufacturing or R&D setting.
Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles systems and components
Proficiency in CAD and other mechanical design tools Inventor AutoCAD
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make independent technical decisions.
Ability to work both individually and in a team environment
Familiarity with automation robotics and control systems a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder updates.
Familiarity with process documentation equipment validation and continuous improvement (Lean Six Sigma or equivalent).
